The Nikkor AF 20mm f/2.8 D had a very good reputation during the film era but the D200 didn’t really like the lens. The resolution is fine for most of the APS-C image frame but the extreme corners never really reach impressive results even at medium aperture settings. Vignetting is fairly high at f/2.8 and CAs are pretty bad. All-in-all you may prefer to look elsewhere to cover this focal length on an APS-C DSLR. READ FULL REVIEW

If any optic in Nikon’s extensive lens line can be called a standard ultrawide, it’s the long-running 20mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor. Covering an impressive 94- degree angle, it’s also pleasantly compact and fast enough for available-light shooting. We were surprised we hadn’t already tested it, so here it is. An outstanding ultrawide-angle lens that delivers pro-caliber performance at a price within the range of many Nikon enthusiasts. Read Full Review

I used to use this AF 20mm all the time because it’s small and easy to use. I’d rather tote it around instead of the fat $1,500 17-35mm AF-S Unfortunately, I’m stronger than I am lazy and now lug the 17-35mm around instead. This lens is not quite as sharp as my old 20mm f/4 AI manual focus. It’s not quite as good as the 17-35mm F/2.8 AF-S zoom, which may be a first zoom to be a tad sharper than a fixed lens. The zoom also has less light falloff at f/2.8. How about that! Read Full Review
